We made it!

13 Feb

We finally made it into our new home and we love it!

After packing everything in the truck all day Friday, we rolled out Saturday morning for the trek out to the desert.  It took a little over two hours since we were driving the 26 footer.  We pulled in and about 4 hours later, the truck was unpacked (special thanks Jon & Jack!).

We’ve spent the last few days putting furniture together, unpacking boxes, getting the utilities turned on, unpacking boxes, running into town and finally… unpacking boxes.  And yes, we still have more boxes to unpack. 🙂

Katie is adjusting quite well.  She loves going over to see the animals next door and pointing them all out to us.  This is our list of neighbors so far:

  • ducks
  • geese
  • chicken
  • donkeys (I can hear the hee-hawing at night… I love it!)
  • pigs
  • ponies
  • horses
  • sheep
  • goats
  • llamas
  • dogs

Hopefully I didn’t leave anyone out.  The neighbor said we can go over and take Katie for pony rides whenever we want.  I’ll be excited for things to be settled here, and to let her take her first pony ride.  Fun!

So things are good.  The weather has been cool and windy.  The night sky is incredible – I’ve never seen so many stars.  And even though we are near the highway, it is so quiet outside.  We see the sunrise over the flat desert to the east and watch the sun set over the mountains to the west.  Beautiful.

Congratulations guys! That’s awesome! Isn’t it nice to have a place you can call your own…and if you want to paint a wall or even tear down a wall you don’t have to ask permission 🙂 I’m very happy for you!

Congratulations to the three of you on your move to your own ‘HOME SWEET HOME”. Not being a Californian Jennifer and Andrew, just where are you located in respect to Los Alamitos? Andrew and Jennifer, you have accomplished a lot in your short years of marriage and it sounds like a grand place for raising your dear Katie she will love the urban lifestyle and the animals next door are such a grand experience for her growing up. Love to you all, Ruby & Bill
